There’s a new kid on the block and you probably already know their name. NewsLeecher fans have enjoyed the popular newsreader and SuperSearch feature over the years. Now they’ve got a chance to test out the latest from the NL team. As they recently launched the NewsLeecher Usenet service. You can pair it with the client and search features or go the Usenet-only route. With prices starting at $9.99 a month for unlimited Usenet.
Let’s take a quick look at what the NewsLeecher Usenet service has to offer:
- Nearly 1,545 days of binary retention
- Almost 3,425 days of text retention
- Unlimited Usenet access
- Uncapped download speeds
- SSL encryption and posting
- NewsLeecher and SuperSearch optional
The NewsLeecher team has set up two Usenet accounts based on whether or not you want to use their client. One includes the client and search while the other is Usenet-only. Here they are:
- Ready To Go – Usenet + client + search – $12.99 a month
- Pure Usenet – Usenet-only – $9.99 a month
NewsLeecher is currently running a introductory offer on their Ready To Go plan. Those who sign up receive a price of $8.49 a month for November – February. Then the price changes back to the normal $12.99 a month.
How does NewsLeecher’s Usenet service stack up to the competition? Time will tell as support for the NewsLeecher client has been spotty at times in the past. Outside of support we don’t see why they can’t compete with the best of them. Their price is around $10 a month which matches leading providers.
Why switch to NewsLeecher? I would guess that many users that try the service early on will be fans of their client. The intro offer gives them incentive to try it out. Along with their 14 day, 10 GB free trial. From there it will be more based on support along with the overall reliability of the service and NewsLeecher client.
NewsLeecher has set their pricing in line with leading Usenet providers like UseNetServer and Newshosting. With unlimited Usenet-only access for $9.99 a month. We would still give the edge to Newshosting since their newsreader with search is included for $9.99 a month. Yet those who prefer NewsLeecher are likely already paying $4 a month for the reader and SuperSearch. Making the Ready To Go plan a good value.
